How this site measures things
Heat
Heat is a rank number computed from how often a device page was opened in the last window, combined with how many third-party reviews we have on file. It is a sorting signal, not a popularity claim, and it resets as the data changes.
Brick risk
Brick risk runs from 0 to 5 and looks at what stops working if the vendor disappears: cloud dependency, mandatory accounts, app-only features, subscription locks. Each factor we can evidence adds to the score; without evidence a factor is not counted.
Review scoring
Only hands-on reviews carry a score, out of 10. Digest pages summarise what third-party reviewers said and never get a number of our own.
What the dates mean
A launch date is the day the product became available, or the window the vendor announced. A crowdfunding row shows the campaign close date, not the shipping date. Verified is the last day we opened the source and confirmed the claim still holds.
Where numbers come from
Prices, specs and compatibility come from vendor pages and retailer listings, each row carrying the source we read. When we cannot verify something we leave it blank or mark it unknown rather than filling it in.
