Final's Porta on-ear headphones weigh 40 grams and run eight hours

News Source: The Verge

The Verge reports that Final's new Porta are on-ear headphones supported by a headband whose structure is made from a single piece of wire, bringing the whole set to 40 grams. For scale, Marshall's recently launched Milton A.N.C. are also on-ear and weigh 200 grams. The Porta are on preorder at Final's online store for 12,800 yen (around $80), with black or orange ear pads and shipping expected to start on 23 October. A 57 mAh battery charges over USB-C and provides up to eight hours of use; the headphones pair over Bluetooth 5.4 and stream SBC and AAC. There is no active noise cancelling, and the set carries an IPX4 rating. Final's US Amazon shop exists, but the Porta are not listed there yet.

Our read: Weight is one of the few specs you feel every minute rather than read once, and 40 grams against 200 is a five-fold difference. The trade-offs sit in the same article: eight hours of use, no active noise cancelling, and a headband made from a single wire; how it adjusts compared with a padded one still needs to be seen. Before recommending it we would want to know the clamping force and whether a single wire survives being carried in a bag. For people who wear glasses, or who gave up on on-ear pairs because they press, this is the category to watch.
